With all this growth happening in the High Desert, I see that the British are now thinking about several places to add new Market’s. Our first Fresh and Easy Neighborhood Market a division of British retail giant Tesco, has announced that their market will open in Spring 2008 in Hesperia.
The new grocery store will be at Main street and Topaz Avenue, and will be a smaller store than the city’s current grocery store’s, occupying a modest 13,900 square feet. Fresh and Easy will be more like Trader Joe’s.
Tesco, the fourth largest retailer has plans to open more than 100 supermarkets in Southern California over the next 12 months. They will be adding one in Apple Valley and another one in Victorville, at El Evado and Palmdale road.
This New Market, Fresh and Easy will be focusing on fresh foods and pre-prepared meals. For more information about living in the Hesperia area, visit my site!

Who does not believe that animals can be man’s best friend? Teaching our children about giving can some times start with a mere exercise about caring. Apple Valley School District has some requirement’s per school year. Our children are required to donate 20 hours of community service per year.
Although the school is not responsible for organizing community events, an idea was presented to the Principal to incorporate humane education with community service.
The school placed a box outside of it’s main office for students to drop animal supplies. This was to be a one week exercise. But with the out cry of donations they extended it for two weeks. Students from first to eighth grade went to the shelter to personally hand over the toys and play with the animals.
The school welcomed the opportunity to teach the children responsibility and caring. They will learn as young children that we must be loving to others and this will be a following into their adulthood.
With this great response the principle plans on continuing and organizing animal shelter projects. She noted that she would like to do a winter blanket drive.
This gives us something to think about. Possibly all of us should make an effort to donate some of our time to the less fortunate at 20 hours per year.
